About Raohe Street Night Market

Located in Taipei's Songshan District, Raohe Street Night Market (饒河街観光夜市) is one of the city's most historic night markets, with food stalls packed end to end along a roughly 600-meter single lane. The grand archway (pailou gate) at the entrance is its signature landmark, and the world of culinary delights that unfolds beyond it is nothing short of spectacular.

Recommended Eats

  • Fuzhou Shizu Pepper Buns (福州世祖胡椒餅) — The icon of Raohe Street. These oven-baked pepper buns are crisp on the outside and packed with juicy, seasoned meat inside
  • Herbal Pork Rib Soup (薬膳排骨湯) — A broth of pork spare ribs simmered with Chinese medicinal spices. A bowl that warms you from the inside out
  • Xie Ke Huang (蟹殻黄) — A baked flaky pastry filled with scallions and pork, named for its crab-shell-yellow color
  • Stinky Tofu (臭豆腐) — A night market staple. Served fresh out of the fryer with kimchi and sauce
  • Dong Fa Hao Oyster Vermicelli (東発号蚵仔麺線) — A popular dish of thick, silky vermicelli generously loaded with oysters

Highlights

With everything along a single lane, there's no chance of getting lost, making it a great choice for first-time visitors to Taiwan. At the far end of the market stands the Songshan Ciyou Temple (松山慈祐宮), which is beautifully illuminated at night. Combined with the energy of the market, it creates a truly magical atmosphere.
